S4 E02 | God’s Chosen King

This week we look at the KING God provided for HIMSELF…our King.

Scriptures studied:

1 Samuel 16:1-23, 17:28-29; 1 Corinthians 3:1; Psalm 14:1-5; Isaiah 53Matthew 11:2-3; Ephesians 2:8-10; Matthew 5:8, 15:19; Luke 6:43-45; Matthew 12:33; Ezekiel 36:26; John 7:38, Isaiah 61:3; James 1:17 ; Lamentations 3:23

Other biblical stories to study:  Abel, Isaac, Jacob, Ephraim

Psalms written and sung by David:  Psalm 23; Psalm 42; Psalm 63

Points to note:

The Kingdom of Saul has consequences:

  • Demanding
  • Disobedient to God
  • Seeks his own glory
  • Spirit of fear and insecurity

  1. Parent
  2. Brothers
  3. Physically
  4. Preceding Prophet

The Kingdom of David:

  • Serving
  • Trusting
  • Heart for God
  • Spirit of Worship

People love the God of their own emotions- who will vote the way they vote; the God of their own making.

You are not saved by your own strength and determination You are saved by God’s grace and power.

If you want to change the atmosphere of your life:  worship God

Questions to consider:

  1. Who is the rejected son a picture of?
  2. Can you contribute to your own salvation? (save yourself?)
  3. Have you ever been guilty of “Image Management”?
  4. Have you ever seen God use a situation that seemed to be bad for His glory?
  5. Are you ready to change your “atmosphere” through worshiping God?
